Is exercise really as good for as "they" say? Yes. Exercise is really good for you. There are dozens of sources with various lists of all the things that exercise can do for you. If exercise were a drug, every doctor would prescribe it for their patients.
Exercise helps to prevent high blood pressure. It boosts HDL (good) cholesterol and lowers unhealthy triglycerides. The result is that exercise reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. There are also studies showing that exercise reduces the risks of developing others diseases including;
Type 2 diabetes
Stroke
Depression
Various forms of cancer including colon, breast, kidney, stomach, lung, bladder, esophagus
Dementia (including Alzheimer’s)
Arthritis
Falls (many people lose their quality of life when they break a hip in their twilight years)
Osteoporosis
Exercise stimulates chemicals in the brain that reduce levels of anxiety and improve mood.
Exercise increases cardiovascular and lung efficiency which makes doing daily tasks seem easier and provides people with more energy.
Exercise helps people lose weight or maintain their current weight. When you exercise you burn calories. If you exercise intensely (as clients do at Cardio High Fitness), you burn even more calories in the same amount of time.
There are also studies showing that exercise improves sleep and helps with having a better sex life.
Substitute the word “exercise” for “little pill” in this post. Wouldn’t you take a little pill that could do all this for you? Side effects might include sore muscles from time to time. That’s it.
